Basketball Recap: Chesterton Comes Up Short

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Chesterton can now relate to. They fell 33-26 to the Valparaiso Vikings on Saturday. The Trojans have struggled against the Vikings recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the loss, Chesterton still got an impressive performance from Kenedi Bradley, who posted 12 points and four steals. That was a full 46.2% of Chesterton's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Even though they lost, Chesterton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Lillian Barnes was her usual excellent self, putting up 17 points and six boards for Valparaiso. The game was Barnes' eighth in a row with at least 15 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chyanne Brown, who had five points.

Chesterton's defeat dropped their record down to 15-9. As for Valparaiso, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-7.

Chesterton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Valparaiso, they will challenge Hammond Central at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hammond Central will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Valparaiso surely won't give up without a fight.
