Softball Recap: Wallkill Extends Winning Streak to Seven

Wallkill put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past the Cornwall Central Dragons 10-4. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

Emma Hunt was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off nine hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Charley Callahan, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Audrey Reeves, who scored three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

Wallkill kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive games.

Wallkill's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-0. As for Cornwall Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Coming up, Wallkill will challenge Washingtonville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wizards have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.6 runs per game on average), something the Panthers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Cornwall Central, they will square off against Warwick at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Dragons are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
