Recap: Eureka Loggers vs. Arcata Tigers
It was a good run, but the Eureka Loggers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 44-33 hit to the loss column at the hands of Arcata. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Eureka has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Eureka still got an impressive performance from Michael Jewell, who scored ten points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Julian Goodman, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
Eureka struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Arcata posted 11 assists.
It was another big night for Dayquan Dunn, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 20 rebounds for Arcata. Those 20 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Lemke, who scored nine points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Eureka's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-7. As for Arcata, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Eureka will be playing at home against McKinleyville at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Arcata will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Rancho Cotate at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th.
