Basketball Game Preview: Spotswood Trailblazers vs. Turner Ashby Knights

The Spotswood Trailblazers will take on the Turner Ashby Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Turner Ashby is hoping to do what Rockbridge County couldn't on Monday: put an end to Spotswood's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Spotswood simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Rockbridge County 50-22. Given the Trailblazers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Wildcats are ranked 203rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Turner Ashby). They took their contest on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 77-29 win over Rockbridge County. The team's explosion on offense also rewarded the Knights with their most commanding win of the season.

Turner Ashby's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Spotswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Things could have been worse for Spotswood, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 43-26 loss to Turner Ashby when the teams last played back in February of 2024.
