Preview: South Decatur Cougars vs. Batesville Bulldogs
South Decatur has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Batesville Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Decatur will be strutting in after a victory while Batesville will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though South Decatur has not done well against Trinity Lutheran recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. South Decatur snuck past Trinity Lutheran with a 50-45 victory.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Decatur to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kiley Best, who scored 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Best has scored all season. Molly Eden was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Batesville came up short against Greensburg on Saturday and fell 60-48. While losing is never fun, Batesville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Greensburg is ranked 29th).
South Decatur is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Batesville, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 13-9.
South Decatur lost to Batesville on the road by a decisive 48-34 margin in their previous meeting back in January of 2023. Can South Decatur avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
