Basketball Recap: Effingham County Takes a Loss

Effingham County was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their 14th straight loss. They took a 42-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lakeside Panthers. Sadly, that's the third time they've come up short against the Rebels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 49-41 two weeks ago.

Despite the loss, Effingham County still got an impressive performance from Nakera M Hawkins, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 17 boards. M Hawkins has been hot, having posted 12 or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Shania Jenkins, who posted seven points.

Effingham County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-15. As for Lakeside, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season.

Coincidentally, both will both be playing Evans the next time they take the court. Effingham County will host Evans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, while Lakeside will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
