Volleyball Recap: Oxnard Takes a Loss

Oxnard was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single set away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Thousand Oaks Lancers. If the Yellowjackets were looking for revenge after losing 3-1 to the Lancers when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

While Oxnard ultimately came up short, they really made Thousand Oaks work, particularly in the first set. The final score came out to 27-25, 19-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-9.

Despite the loss, Oxnard saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Levi Martinez had four digs and three aces. Martinez also set a new season-high mark in assists with 28.

Soren Klem had a dynamite game For Thousand Oaks., getting 20 digs and seven assists. Those 20 digs gave Klem a new career-high. Jayson Hill also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Oxnard's defeat dropped their record down to 13-17. As for Thousand Oaks, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 23-14.

Oxnard has already played their next game, a 3-1 loss against La Serna on the 29th. As for Thousand Oaks, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-2 victory against Western Christian on the 30th.
