Notre Dame Academy proved they can win big last Thursday (they won by 18) and on Monday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Bay Port Pirates 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Tritons have posted since May 11, 2024.
Ella Nowak spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.
On the hitting side, Olivia Waldrop was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie Hilts, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Notre Dame Academy hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bay Port struck out six times.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Notre Dame Academy will venture away from home to square off against Green Bay Southwest at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.8 runs per game on average), something the Tritons will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Bay Port, they will head out on the road to challenge Sheboygan South at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates are facing the Redwings at the right time seeing as the Redwings are stuck on a five-game losing streak.
