Shady Spring comes up short despite Kendra Pizzino's dominant performance

Recap: Shady Spring Tigers vs. Bluefield Beavers

This season hasn't been kind to the Shady Spring Tigers, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 47-34 loss to Bluefield.

When it comes to explaining why Shady Spring lost on Wednesday, one person who can't be blamed is Kendra Pizzino. Despite the final result, she scored 18 points. Pizzino scored a full 52.9% of Shady Spring's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kylee Barnes, who scored five points.

Shady Spring's loss dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Bluefield, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3.

Shady Spring is on the road again on Thursday and play against Princeton at 1:00 p.m. on January 4th. Princeton presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Shady Spring in West Virginia (Princeton is ranked 19th, while Shady Spring is ranked 113th). As for Bluefield, they will face off against Mercer Christian Academy at TBD on Saturday.
