Softball Recap: Forestview Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Forestview had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-7 victory over the South Point Red Raiders on Friday. The Jaguars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Olivia Hensley made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits. Those hits were her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Miley Skidmore was a standout: she scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Kaitlyn Baker was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Forestview always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as South Point only posted an OBP of .324.

Forestview's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 2-5. As for South Point, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.

Forestview didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 20-0 victory against Huss on the 18th. As for South Point, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 6-0 defeat against Kings Mountain on the 18th.
