Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln High vs. Columbus

The Lincoln High Links are taking a road trip to face off against the Columbus Discoverers at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Columbus took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lincoln High, who comes in off a win.

Lincoln High's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They walked away with a 2-0 victory over Fremont. Lincoln High haven't had any issues with Fremont recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

Eric Montoya and Olman ?lvarez scored both of Lincoln High's goals, which were season-firsts for both players.

Meanwhile, Columbus fought the good fight in their overtime game against Lincoln Northeast on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was the Rockets who were credited with the victory. Lincoln Northeast got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to Columbus' zero.

Columbus' defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Lincoln High, the win also got them back to even at 2-2.

Lincoln High skirted past Columbus 1-0 when the teams last played back in March of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Lincoln High since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
