Baseball Game Preview: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Westside Rams

The Woodruff Wolverines will venture away from home to challenge the Westside Rams at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Woodruff comes in on four and Westside on six.

Woodruff barely beat Union County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Wolverines were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over the Yellowjackets on Friday. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, Westside never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against Emerald by a score of 5-0.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Scott, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Westside's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 16-6. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Woodruff, their victory bumped their record up to 18-7.

Woodruff couldn't quite finish off Westside in their previous matchup back in April of 2018 and fell 6-4. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
