Football Game Preview: St. Johns Redskins vs. Morenci Wildcats + How To Watch

The St. Johns Redskins will face off against the Morenci Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. St. Johns will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each matchup than the last.

St. Johns' defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Miami, posting a 59-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Redskins, who have now won six contests by 41 points or more so far this season.

St. Johns got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Kaden Waite out in front who rushed for 144 yards and one TD on only five carries, and also threw for 57 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 144 rushing yards gave Waite a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brigden Heap, who gained 68 total yards and two touchdowns.

St. Johns didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Waite led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Meanwhile, Morenci unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 13-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Pima. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Johns will have to contain Julien Aragon as he made an impact in Morenci's last game. He rushed for 188 yards.

St. Johns' victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.3 points on average over those games. As for Morenci, their loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3.

Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. St. Johns has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 242.6 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Morenci struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 263.9 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
