The Apopka Blue Darters will challenge the South Lake Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
South Lake will be up against a hot Apopka squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went Apopka's way against Wekiva on Friday as Apopka made off with a 16-1 win. With that victory, the Blue Darters brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Jarred Goodson and Maddox Stinson dominated on the mound. Goodson pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Stinson tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Stinson has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ty Livingston, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Nicolas Posluszny was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.
Apopka was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .450. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for South Lake, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They never let Colonial get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Friday. The victory continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Grenadiers: they've now won four in a row.
D Pina was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Another player making a difference was C Allen, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Apopka's win bumped their record up to 12-6. As for South Lake, the victory got them back to even at 10-10.
