Baseball Recap: Paw Paw Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

Paw Paw had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Michigan Lutheran on Wednesday. The Red Wolves were the clear victors by a 16-1 margin over the Titans. Considering the Red Wolves have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Remi Dempsey made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Dempsey was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Gunnar Goodell was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Andrew Lehto was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Paw Paw kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.4.

Paw Paw has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Michigan Lutheran, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-4.
