Basketball Recap: Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Takes a Loss

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley was the 63-55 winner over Shelby-Rising City when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles fell to the Shelby-Rising City Huskies 49-45. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Shelby-Rising City's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Noah Thelen, who posted 11 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals. Thelen has become a key player for Shelby-Rising City: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three steals, but 7-10 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Blake Schmidt, who went 7 for 11 on his way to 15 points.

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley's defeat dropped their record down to 8-12. As for Shelby-Rising City, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-10.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will head out to take on High Plains at 7:30 p.m. on February 14th. As for Shelby-Rising City, they will face off against Thayer Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
