Softball Recap: North Caddo Drops Highest Score of Season Against Mansfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Caddo). They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Mansfield Wolverines on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Nataleigh Ball made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brexley Phelps was a standout: she scored two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Those two runs gave her a new career-high. Ashlee West was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2.

North Caddo hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

North Caddo's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Mansfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-11 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Caddo will venture away from home to challenge North Webster at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mansfield, they will face off against Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
