Softball Recap: Deep Run Gets the Win

Deep Run put their dominant pitcher on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Mechanicsville Mustangs 2-0. The victory continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

The result came thanks to Emily Plank's shutout, as she gave up just two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Deep Run's win was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brooke Black, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. Black has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times she's played.

Deep Run's record is now 16-3. As for Mechanicsville, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 8-12.

Deep Run does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mechanicsville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Highland Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Springers have averaged an impressive 10.2 runs per game this season.
