Lakeland Preparatory had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Milan Bulldogs on Wednesday. Considering the Lions have won 18 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Brett Godwin was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Wyatt Helton was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Ryan Pitts was another key player, going 1-for-2 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.

Lakeland Preparatory has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 18 of their last 19 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 25-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Milan, they moved to 19-17 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Lakeland Preparatory beat the Bulldogs by a score of 11-1 on Thursday.
