Softball Game Preview: Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs vs. Shelbyville Dragons

The Corrigan-Camden Bulldogs will take on the Shelbyville Dragons on Saturday. Corrigan-Camden will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

Corrigan-Camden is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They skirted past Hawkins 3-2.

Meanwhile, Shelbyville got the win against Alba-Golden on Friday by a conclusive 9-3.

Taylor Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Shelbyville let Carsey Lovell and Kylie Snell run wild. Lovell went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Snell got on base in two of her four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Lizzie Jernigan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Shelbyville is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Corrigan-Camden, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-5-1.

Everything went Corrigan-Camden's way against Shelbyville in their previous meeting back in February, as Corrigan-Camden made off with a 7-1 victory. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Dragons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
