Softball Game Preview: Thrall Tigers vs. Rockdale Tigers

Thrall will head out on the road to square off against Rockdale at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Thrall will be strutting in after a win while Rockdale will be coming in after a loss.

Thrall will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Lexington, who they had gone 0-3 against in their three prior meetings. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand the Eagles a 3-0 shutout on Friday.

The result came thanks to Miley Pokorny's shutout, as she gave up just nine hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Selena Quintanilla, who went 1-for-4 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Piper Hernandez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Rockdale was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 17-2 to Franklin. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 14, 2018, but that streak is no more.

Jayla Gonzalez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.

Thrall's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-11. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Rockdale, their loss dropped their record down to 5-14-1.

Thrall took their victory against Rockdale when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 8-0 score. Will Thrall repeat their success, or does Rockdale has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
