Basketball Game Preview: Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves vs. Futures Knights

The Western Sierra Collegiate Academy Wolves will square off against the Futures Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They put the hurt on John Adams Academy - El Dorado Hills with a sharp 78-55 victory on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Western Sierra Collegiate Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Yashveer Dhillon, who posted 16 points. Kobe Aban was another key player, putting up 15 points.

Meanwhile, Futures waltzed into their game on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They claimed a resounding 98-23 win over the Fire Wolves. With the Knights ahead 55-7 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

Futures' win came from a few key players Western Sierra Collegiate Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Chris Collins, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 boards. He also grabbed six steals, which is notable because Futures is 3-1 when he posts at least three steals, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Anthoni Moore, who went 11 of 15 on his way to 23 points in addition to 14 assists and 11 boards.

Futures was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Futures' victory was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points per game. As for Western Sierra Collegiate Academy, their win bumped their record up to 6-7.

Western Sierra Collegiate Academy came up short against Futures in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 51-44. Can Western Sierra Collegiate Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
