Vernon hadn't done well against Jefferson Township recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Vikings breezed past the Falcons to the tune of 55-20. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since October 28, 2021, but that streak is no more.

Kimkowski Nate produced another solid performance rushing for 112 yards and two TDs, while also throwing for 235 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt. Vernon's leading receiver Dean Grundy was Nate's top target yet again, picking up 133 receiving yards and a pair of scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Vernon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 171 rushing yards in three consecutive contests.

Vernon didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. Gavin Wilczewski picked up that interception and then proceeded to rub salt in the wound by taking it back the other way for a touchdown. He got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Chris Connolly and Jason Post certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Connolly picked up 78 receiving yards and one touchdown, while Post picked up 66 receiving yards and one TD.

Vernon pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 37.3 points over those games. As for Jefferson Township, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Vernon will take on Sparta at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Jefferson Township, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Whippany Park at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
