Baseball Recap: Fairfield Union Comes Up Short

After flying high against Fairfield Christian Academy on Tuesday, Fairfield Union came back down to earth. The Falcons fell just short of the Reynoldsburg Raiders by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday.

Joe Blankenship was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 6.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Ashton Waldrop was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Dylan Barringer also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Fairfield Union's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Reynoldsburg, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-15-1 record.
