Griffith waltzed into their matchup on Friday with eight straight wins... but they left with nine. Everything went their way against the Lake Station Edison Fighting Eagles as they made off with a 14-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won eight games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Cheyanne Fant was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in May of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That double marked the first that she has hit this season.
In other batting news, Laney Poppa was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Brylie Bridges, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.
Griffith hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Station Edison struck out 12 times.
Griffith's record is now 14-1. As for Lake Station Edison, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Griffith will square off against Whiting at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Station Edison, they will challenge River Forest at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Fighting Eagles will need to watch out since the Ingots have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
