Basketball Game Preview: Turner Lions vs. The Colony Cougars

Turner hasn't had much luck against The Colony recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Turner Lions take on the The Colony Cougars at 7:15 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Turner is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Saturday. They lost 63-41 to Wakeland. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 773rd, while the Wolverines are ranked 164th).

The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jordan Johnson, who posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Leo Portillo, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points.

Meanwhile, The Colony lost to Lone Star on the road by a 65-49 margin on Friday. The Cougars haven't had much luck with the Rangers recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Turner's defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-8. As for The Colony, their loss dropped their record down to 15-10.

Turner suffered a grim 76-55 defeat to The Colony in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Can Turner avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
