Softball Game Preview: Pass Christian Pirates vs. Greene County Wildcats

Pass Christian is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will head out to square off against the Greene County Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. Pass Christian's hitters haven't had much luck over their past four matches, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Pass Christian fell victim to George County and their airtight pitching crew on Saturday. They came up short against the Rebels, falling 10-0.

Meanwhile, Greene County entered their tilt with Enterprise on Saturday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 5-1 win over the Bulldogs.

Addie Tungett made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Shanna Johnson was incredible, scoring a run while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Riley Kate Byrd, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Pass Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-4. As for Greene County, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Pass Christian skirted past Greene County 4-2 in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will Pass Christian repeat their success, or does Greene County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
