Softball Game Preview: Washington Academy Raiders vs. Sumner Tigers

The Washington Academy Raiders will face off against the Sumner Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Sumner took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Washington Academy, who comes in off a win.

Washington Academy barely beat Foxcroft Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders put the hurt on the Ponies with a sharp 11-1 victory on Friday. Considering the Raiders' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Grace Howard was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Avery Libby, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Sumner unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Monday. They lost 12-2 to Bucksport.

Sumner's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Washington Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
