Softball Recap: Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the McAllen Memorial Mustangs with a sharp 13-3 victory. That's two games straight that the Raiders have won by exactly ten runs.

Raelyn Mancias made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 4-for-4.

In other batting news, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North let Aylin Garza and Vanessa Palacios run wild. Garza went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Palacios scored four runs while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave Palacios a new career-high. Paris Mederez was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as McAllen Memorial struck out 12 times.

Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North pushed their record up to 14-5 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for McAllen Memorial, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-8.

Coincidentally, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North and McAllen Memorial will both be playing McAllen the next time they take the field. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North will head out to face McAllen at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while McAllen Memorial will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
