Basketball Recap: Navarro Falls Despite Big Games from Tegan Harborth and Jillian Baker

Navarro lost against Cuero last Saturday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Navarro Panthers took a 28-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cuero Gobblers. The matchup marked the Panthers' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Jillian Baker and Tegan Harborth certainly did their best on Thursday to avoid the loss. Baker posted five points, while Harborth had seven points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Baker a new career-high in points.

Arissa Carbonara was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 boards for Cuero. Carbonara has been hot, having posted nine or more rebounds the last five times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mauryana Dasilva, who put up six points and six steals.

Navarro's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7. As for Cuero, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Navarro wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 44-42 win against Bishop on the 13th. As for Cuero, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 52-31 victory against Jones on the 13th.
