After losing to South Caldwell the last time they met, Watauga decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pioneers skirted past the Spartans 10-8. The victory was nothing new for the Pioneers as they're now sitting on eight straight.

Everett Gryder looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Watauga's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is 7-1 (and 9-10 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, JT Cook was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. What's more, he posted three hits, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Maddox Greene was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Watauga was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Watauga's record now sits at 16-11. As for South Caldwell, they moved to 23-2 with that defeat, which also ended their ten-game winning streak.
