Softball Recap: Peoria Notre Dame Drops Season-High Score on Urbana

Peoria Notre Dame had lost three games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 11-10 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They blew past the Urbana Tigers 20-1. The Irish's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Lexie Dallinger-Eaker made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three doubles, three RBI, and one triple while going 5-for-5. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Avery Ginglen, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three). Another player making a difference was Ella Tady, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Peoria Notre Dame always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

As for Urbana, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 11 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season. Their loss continues a trend for the team, making it four in a row.

On Urbana's side, they saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kaya Hill, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Peoria Notre Dame will head out to square off against Rochester at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Irish surely won't give up without a fight. As for Urbana, they will head out on the road to challenge Arcola at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
