Appomattox County has gone 9-1 against Altavista recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Raiders will face off against the Colonels at 5:30 p.m. Appomattox County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.

While Appomattox County's victory against Gretna wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Raiders won by a run and slipped past the Hawks 4-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Raiders have posted against the Hawks since April 22, 2022.

Isaac Records spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Caid Burch was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Micah Wilson, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Altavista's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost 7-1 to Dan River. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Colonels couldn't push the score so high this time.

Altavista's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Appomattox County, their victory bumped their record up to 10-5.

Appomattox County took their win against Altavista when the teams last played back in April by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Raiders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
