Softball Recap: Horseshoe Bend Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Glenns Ferry, Horseshoe Bend was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Idaho City Wildcats by a score of 15-12. For the Mustangs, this counts as revenge for the 20-10 win the Wildcats walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2025.

Kimber Jones made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 11 over seven innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2025. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times she's played.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Trin Catherman, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Catherman is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Aiyonna Lupinacci also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Horseshoe Bend always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Horseshoe Bend's record now sits at 4-1. As for Idaho City, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Coming up, Horseshoe Bend will head out on the road to face off against Garden Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.5 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Idaho City, they have already played their next game, a 15-12 loss against Greenleaf Friends Academy on the 17th.
