Football Recap: South Fork Takes Down Martin County in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but South Fork had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Martin County Tigers a 7-0 shutout. The seven-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Savannah Tatum continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, picking up 35 receiving yards and one touchdown, while also rushing for 68 yards on only seven carries.

The win (which was South Fork's sixth in a row) raised their record to 15-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 3.0 points on average over those games. As for Martin County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-3 record.

Coming up, South Fork will face off against Seminole Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Hawks' defense has only allowed 9.3 points per game this season, so the Bulldogs' offense will have their work cut out for them. Martin County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
