Softball Recap: Northridge Comes Up Short

Northridge dropped their record down to 7-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Mishawaka Cavemen. The game marked the first time this season in which the Raiders were not able to get on the board.

Northridge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rachel Humbarger, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

As for Mishawaka, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Considering they have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

On Mishawaka's side, the result came thanks to Camila Rameriz's shutout, as she gave up just three hits and racked up 13 Ks. Rameriz has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Shea Crawford, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mika Mercado, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Northridge will host Plymouth at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Mishawaka, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Cavemen 3.9, the Chargers 2.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
