Riverview beats Monroe for their seventh straight win

The Riverview Pirates had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 29.2 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They walked away with a 27-14 win over Monroe. Given Riverview's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan football rankings (they are ranked 89th, while Monroe is ranked 230th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Riverview's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-8 Jefferson and 3-6 Monroe (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.1% over those games). As for Monroe, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-6.
Riverview will be playing at home against Trenton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Trenton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak. Monroe does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
