Baseball Game Preview: Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves vs. St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers

The Living Word Lutheran Timberwolves will venture away from home to take on the St. John's Northwestern Military Academy Lancers at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Living Word Lutheran and six for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy dating back to last season.

On Monday, Living Word Lutheran didn't have quite enough to beat Campbellsport and fell 6-4.

Easton Oliver put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Gavin LaPerriere was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 3-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

Meanwhile, St. John's Northwestern Military Academy didn't have quite enough to beat Lake Country Lutheran on Monday and fell 7-6.

David Schroettner made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3.

Living Word Lutheran's record is now 1-4. As for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, their record now sits at 0-3.

St. John's Northwestern Military Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Living Word Lutheran has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for St. John's Northwestern Military Academy, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Living Word Lutheran's sizable advantage in that area, the Lancers will need to find a way to close that gap.

Living Word Lutheran took their victory against St. John's Northwestern Military Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Timberwolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
