Basketball Game Preview: Water Canyon Wildcats vs. Millard Eagles

Water Canyon is 0-4 against Millard since January of 2024 but things could change on Tuesday. The Water Canyon Wildcats will be playing at home against the Millard Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Water Canyon is headed into the game out to prove that what happened against Kanab on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Water Canyon was dealt an 84-44 loss at the hands of Kanab. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-16.

The match pitted two dominant centers against one another in Martha Jessop and Rylee Little. Little had a great game and dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten boards. Meanwhile, Jessop did her best for the losing side, going 6 of 14 en route to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Meanwhile, Millard managed to keep up with Kanab until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Millard was beaten by Kanab 68-41. The Eagles haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

This is the second loss in a row for Water Canyon and nudges their season record down to 7-12. As for Millard, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-14.

Water Canyon took a serious blow against Millard in their previous matchup last Thursday, falling 61-32. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Millard's Blakelie Davies, who went 14 for 19 on her way to 33 points in addition to six boards and five steals.
