Football Recap: Gilbert Snaps Five-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Gilbert dropped to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 44-21 to the Arizona College Prep Knights. The Tigers gained 104 more yards on the day, but it was the Knights that made the best use of them.

When it comes to explaining why Gilbert lost, don't look at Zane Grant. Despite the final result, he threw for 372 yards and three TDs. Grant is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. A healthy portion of Grant's aerial production (96 yards to be exact) went to Jaymin King.

Even if they lost, Gilbert's defensive line still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: King, Christian Seeley, and Andrew Nichols, who each picked up one sack apiece.

As for Arizona College Prep, the win keeps them at an undefeated 5-0. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 36.0 points this season.

Max Sasso had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 67 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries.
