Softball Recap: Forest Hills Comes Up Short

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Forest Hills and Valley meet (five straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Tigers lost 18-4 to the Cavaliers. The Tigers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Cavaliers earlier this season, when they won 9-5.

Forest Hills dropped their record down to 5-7 with the defeat, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. As for Valley, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-5.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Forest Hills will take on Wiscasset at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolverines have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.46 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Valley, they will face off against North Yarmouth Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Cavaliers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
