Basketball Recap: Isiah Banks' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Norfolk Christian over Cape Henry Collegiate

Norfolk Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They took a 77-68 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cape Henry Collegiate Dolphins. The Ambassadors lost against the Dolphins in their previous head to head back in February of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 78-35 score last time.

Norfolk Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Isiah Banks, who posted 16 points. Those 16 points gave Banks a new career-high. Another player making a difference was James 'Boogie' Sellers, who put up ten points and six assists.

Even though they lost, Norfolk Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive matches.

Norfolk Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-12. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, Norfolk Christian will head out to face off against Nandua at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Norfolk Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.3 points per game this season. As for Cape Henry Collegiate, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-53 win against Norfolk Academy on the 8th.
