Baseball Recap: Castleberry Snags Fifth Win in Last Six Games

The home team had won the previous six meetings between Castleberry and Bridgeport, and Castleberry kept the tradition alive. The Lions' pitcher stepped up to hand the Bulls a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won seven contests by six runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to S Soto's shutout, as he gave up just a hit.

On the hitting side, Adrian Pina and Cayden Perez did most of the damage at the plate: Pina went 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI, while Perez scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. That triple marked the first that Pina hit this season. Eric Hernandez was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Castleberry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive matchups.

Castleberry has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bridgeport, their loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-18.

Castleberry will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Bulls: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
