Largo is 0-10 against Dunedin since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. Largo will look to defend their home field against Dunedin at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Largo sitting on four straight wins and Dunedin on three.
Largo's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed two weeks ago. They put the hurt on Tarpon Springs with a sharp 16-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Packers, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Miranda Rollins was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Elle Fleck, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Largo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .500 or higher in three consecutive games.
While Dunedin didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Hudson 8-6.
Abby McLemore made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Lyla Griffey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. Riley Millican was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Dunedin pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Largo, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Largo hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .338. However, it's not like Dunedin struggles in that department as they've averaged .318. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Largo might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Dunedin in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Will Largo have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
