Softball Game Preview: Northeastern Eagles vs. Manteo Redskins

The Northeastern Eagles will square off against the Manteo Redskins at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Northeastern has now lost 12 straight dating back to last season, leaving the team hunting for their first win since the 25th.

Northeastern came up short against Currituck County on Thursday, falling 16-1. That's two games in a row now that the Eagles have lost by exactly 15 runs.

Zhanyia Cherry made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Manteo had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They fell just short of Northside - Pinetown by a score of 3-2 on Tuesday. The Redskins haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Manteo saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bella Huntingford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Northeastern's loss dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Manteo, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-1.

Northeastern might still be hurting after the 25-10 loss they got from Manteo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Northeastern avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
