Basketball Game Preview: Dominion Christian Knights vs. Academe of the Oaks Firebirds

The Dominion Christian Knights will face off against the Academe of the Oaks Firebirds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Dominion Christian and ten for Academe of the Oaks dating back to last season.

Dominion Christian came up into this matchup off a tough 29-point loss on Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of Harvester Christian Academy by a score of 61-58 on Tuesday.

Despite their defeat, Dominion Christian saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Emory Maiyer, who went 10 for 21 on her way to 24 points, was perhaps the best of all. That was a full 41.4% of Dominion Christian's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Sophia Jackson was another key player, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Academe of the Oaks was beaten by Valor Christian 78-4 on Thursday.

Dominion Christian's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Academe of the Oaks, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.
