Baseball Preview: Carlmont Scots vs. King's Academy Knights
The Carlmont Scots are taking a road trip to challenge the King's Academy Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Carlmont took a eight-run loss the last time they faced off against Bellarmine College Prep, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Scots came out on top in a nail-biter against the Bells on Saturday, sneaking past 5-4. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Scots as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Grant Goetz was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. Pano Koutoulas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing two bases.
Carlmont hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, King's Academy had just enough and edged out Pioneer 3-1 on Saturday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Knights.
Ethan Johnson was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
