Softball Recap: Lakeside Takes a Loss

Lakeside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Citrus Hill Hawks. That's two games in a row now that the Lancers have lost by just one run.

Michaela Alverado and Savana Swick stepped up to the plate in a big way. Alverado went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double, while Swick went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That double was Alverado's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Fisher, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Lakeside's defeat dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Citrus Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Lakeside will be playing at home against Buena Park at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Citrus Hill, they will take on Perris at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
