Baseball Recap: South Adams Victorious

South Adams saw some tournament action on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-2 win over the Tipton Blue Devils.

Derek McKean was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Sty Pyle was excellent, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Minger, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and one run.

South Adams' victory bumped their record up to 8-10. As for Tipton, they dropped their record down to 5-13 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. South Adams will head out to challenge Woodlan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last six games the Warriors have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Tipton, they are taking a road trip to square off against Tri-Central at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.17 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
