Baseball Game Preview: Kentwood Conquerors vs. Auburn Trojans

The Kentwood Conquerors will head out on the road to square off against the Auburn Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this game.

On Wednesday, Kentwood didn't have quite enough to beat Kennedy Catholic and fell 4-3.

Kentwood saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zach Hernandez, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Auburn was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Kentridge, falling 9-2.

Auburn's defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Kentwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season.

Kentwood's speedy runners might be the difference in Tuesday's contest. The Conquerors have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Auburn, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Kentwood continue to outrun the ball?

Kentwood took their victory against Auburn in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 11-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Conquerors since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
